Travels and Artful Things

Over the years I’ve been fortunate enough to have spent some extended time throughout various Latin American countries, Caribbean Islands and many coastal regions of the U.S and Europe. Since I first started surfing some 30 years ago it had always been a dream to travel into exotic places searching for perfect surf, while getting first hand knowledge of how the rest of the world lives.

My first surf trip was in 1979 which landed myself and two friends in El Salvador just as their bloody revolution started. What had been planned as a three week surf exploration turned into a life changing experience lasting nearly three months while dodging bullets, avoiding suspicious locals and enjoying some of the best surf the Pacific has to offer.

More relaxed times were to be found in the years ahead while visiting Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Here I discovered some of the most beautiful and friendly people on earth. Now that things have chilled a bit, I’m looking forward to heading back into El Salvador to savor one more taste of the world class point breaks found in this country.
